Santoro, Driggs, Walch, Kearney, Holley & Thompson

Charles Lynn Titus

The Santoro, Driggs, Walch, Kearney, Holley & Thompson family is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our own, Charles Lynn Titus.  Charlie was tragically and unexpectedly taken from us in a recent diving accident.  All of us will miss him dearly, with deep sadness, respect, and fondness.  At the same time, we are comforted in knowing that Charlie got so much out of his extraordinary and wonderful life.

Charlie was truly a renaissance man in every sense of the term.  In the sixty years given to him, Charlie's accomplishments and passions were as varied as was his love of life.  Charlie graduated from Creighton University first as an undergraduate student and then from its law school in 1972.  Charlie went on to become a consummate attorney, having conducted over two hundred trials in his career.  He served as the senior litigation partner and later managing partner of an Omaha, Nebraska, firm with over seventy attorneys.  Charlie then relocated to Las Vegas, where he founded and was president of a new title insurance company associated with the Wells Fargo Bank group of companies.  Charlie later became a lead litigator in our firm, and he conducted a variety of bench and jury trials in Las Vegas.  He was instrumental in teaching many of the newer (and some not so new) attorneys in our firm, lending to them the benefit of his years of experience and knowledge.

While Charlie's accomplishments as a lawyer and mentor were themselves exceptional, it is how Charlie lived life outside the office that made him virtually everyone's friend.  Charlie was an accomplished musician, having been a member of rock and roll bands in his native Nebraska and in Nevada for over thirty years.   He was also an avid golfer, regularly beating competitors many years his junior, most of whom are lighter in the wallet and richer in the heart for it.  Charlie was a budding author, having recently published his first novel, Vegas Diary:  A Dish Served Cold, which offered us yet another side of Charlie to marvel at and enjoy.  Charlie was currently researching his second novel, which was to be set in Savannah, Georgia.  Somehow in his spare hours, Charlie also earned a black belt in karate, showing how accomplished Charlie was in so many fields of endeavor.

Though Charlie relished his role as a doting grandfather, he never got older, much less old.  He skied nearly every weekend during the winter, enjoying those many wonderful times with his wife, Rose, at their cabin in southern Utah.    Charlie also enjoyed water sports, making good friends, and on appropriate occasions, a good after work libation together with some singing.  Charlie immediately brought good cheer to any group privileged to have him.  He always had a story to tell, and whether it was a tall tale never mattered, he was always entertaining.

Charlie's wonderful wife, Rose, will always remain a member of our firm.  Rose and Charlie hosted an annual party for our entire firm each summer, and it was an event that every one of us looked forward to with anticipation.  She will remain with us the same great lady she always has been.

Charles Titus was truly a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, attorney, colleague, and friend.  Our spirits could not be heavier today with his passing, and he will truly never be replaced in our firm or in our hearts.
